If you’ve had a tooth repaired in the past with a filling, there might not be enough viable tooth enamel remaining to secure another filling. Should a cavity form in this tooth, the only viable repair option might be for your dentist, Dr. Stephanie Karlin or Justin Petracek to replace the entire tooth enamel layer with a crown in Littleton, Colorado.

This dental restoration creates a replica of the tooth enamel layer in an alternate material like porcelain, gold, or a metallic alloy. The crown itself is hollow to allow it to be anchored on an abutment formed out of the dentin layer of the tooth, leaving the pulp, and the root of the tooth intact.

Once your dentist has removed the tooth enamel, they will make a detailed impression of the abutment and the related teeth in the area. This will be sent to our off-site dental lab where the permanent crown will be created. A temporary crown will be anchored atop the abutment to protect it.

When it’s ready, a member of our staff will contact you to schedule a second appointment. Once the crown is cemented in place with a strong dental adhesive, it will fully restore the tooth’s for many years to come.

If you live in Littleton, Colorado and you have a tooth in need of treatment and repair, you should call 303.933.2420 to explore your restoration options at Dakota Ridge Dental’s clinic. We look forward to helping you smile again!
